What foods can cause acid reflux? – John Randolph Medical Center

Foods that are common
triggers of acid reflux include caffeine, and caffeine is in
a lot of products obviously– coffee, tea, chocolate,
which we all love. Other things that
exacerbate acid reflux include spicy foods and
heavily seasoned foods, like onions and garlic. Peppermint can
aggravate acid reflux and it works by lowering
the tone of the sphincter at the bottom of the esophagus. And so it’s more
likely that acid will reflux into the esophagus.
