– My favorite operation is a laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication. It’s used to help people who have very, very bad reflux disease. We can go in and make a new valve around the bottom of the esophagus by detaching the stomach
and wrapping it around the esophagus and sewing it to itself. It’s a fun operation to do, it involves a lot of advanced laparoscopy, and the patients typically will have a very good outcome when you get finished. They get off all of their
reflux medications and don’t wake up at night with
heartburn or anything else. That’s my favorite operation.
