Man, 52, complaining of stomach ache has enormous 12lb tumour removed from gut

A man who went to his GP with a terrible stomach ache ended up being rushed into surgery after a huge tumour was spotted  The 52-year-old arrived at his doctors with a “gripping pain” across his middle on Saturday morning  He was quickly sent to hospital where medics performed a CT scan which revealed the 12lb growth  Doctors recommended immediate surgery amid fears that the growth could affect other organs including his liver and his digestive system    The mammoth growth was removed during a 90-minute operation at the Bueng Kan Hospital in Bueng Kan province, north-eastern Thailand  Surgeons were pictured holding the tumour, which was 35cm long and 32cm wide and weighed 5 420kg.  Lead surgeon Dr Nut Thongbuasirilai said he was pleased with the operation as he was able to test out new tools recently received by the hospital to use in difficult procedures  Dr Nut said: “As the tumour had a fascia that attached to the liver, small intestine and a stomach we had to be very, very careful when cutting it  “There was the chance the patient could suffer blood loss or sudden shock.  “Fortunately, we just received the most modern surgery tools from a local fundraiser from the Buddhist temple and the equipment played an important role to make this hard case a lot easier ”  Doctors will now send the tumour for a biopsy to check if it is cancerous but they believe it is benign  Dr Nut added: ”The patient was happy with the results of the operation and said he felt much better but he was still sore from the operation ”
