‘I can’t watch Only Fools’ Rodney Trotter actor reveals pain at watching series [Royals TV]

 ONLY Fools And Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst cannot bear to watch reruns of the show because so many of the original cast have died  Nicholas, known to millions of fans around the world as Rodney Trotter, said watching the hit comedy brings back painful memories  The actor, 57, said: “I can’t watch it now. I don’t want to see friends who are no longer with us on screen We used to go and surprise them on their birthdays. We used to wind them up. We used to tease each other It was a family. So yeah, it’s sad.” Buster Merryfield, 78, who played Uncle Albert, died in 1999, Trigger actor Roger Lloyd-Pack, 69, passed away in 2014 and the world lost 64-year-old writer John Sullivan in 2011    Grandad star Lennard Pearce, 69, died in 1984, while Roy Heather, 79, who played cafe owner Sid, and 50-year-old Ken Mac-Donald, best known as landlord Mike, have also gone since the programme aired  Nicholas said he will not even watch the new theatre version of the show and ruled out an updated TV version  He said: “We can’t do it. Of course we can’t do it without them. Wouldn’t dream of it ” Nicholas, who has largely been absent from TV screens in recent years, apart from popping up in BBC detective drama New Tricks, revealed he only really sees Del Boy actor Sir David Jason at funerals now    He said: “That’s how it’s been over the past couple of years. It’s horrible ” And the naturally shy actor admitted he avoids being spotted by fans using a trick Sir David taught him  He said: “David had a pork pie hat and sunglasses and I had a baseball cap and sunglasses  “It obviously worked, because one day in Bristol we walked right past one another in the street  “It can be done. I get the train every day but I’m not bothered by anyone. I wear my cap ”
